Colonia del Sacramento, declared World Heritage by the UNESCO, is a great destination for those looking for relaxation and a full day of outdoor activities. Only 50 minutes on speed ferries from the city of Buenos Aires, is a trip back into the colonial time, through the cobbled stone streets, their pulperias (local bar/cafes), bull fight arena all bordered by the beautiful views of the stream of Rio de la Plata. This is a Full Day Tour, but it can also be and overnight tour at the amazing Casa de los Limoneros or Posada Plaza Mayor. Also can be combined with Montevideo (2 hours 30 minutes away by bus) or Carmelo (2 hours away). Choose the best option for you.

> DESCRIPTION
Some companies offer this tour, including the Speed Ferry plus the city tour and lunch. My recommendation is to stay as far away as possible from that. The tour is very basic and mainly on board of a regular bus, in a destination where walking around is the nicest and best thing you can do. Also the restaurant options are cheap and touristic.

Do this tour on your own. Once you get off the Ferry there is an information center, get a copy of the map of the town (which is only 6 blocks away) and plan your own day. Also there are several companies that rent bikes and motorbikes by the hour and full day.

Colonia del Sacramento, within the limits of the old court is full of little cafes, bars and bistros, each great an traditional. Choose your own favorite.

WARNINGS !!!. (01). Before booking this tour, let me know your nationality to check VISA requirements to enter into Uruguay. (02). Since most of the activities are outdoors, this is a tour to be done on a rainy day.

During the summer time, bring your bathing suit, since they have nice areas on the coast with Rio de la Plata where you can sunbathe and swim.

I would suggest you take this tour either for the day or even overnight. For the day tour, take the 09AM Fast Ferry to Colonia del Sacramento and the 06PM return, arriving into Buenos Aires around 7PM. NOW if you plan to stay overnight my strong recommendations are La Casa de los Limoneros or Plaza Mayor.
