Welcome to New York City. Often referred to as the City That Never Sleeps or the Big Apple, NYC is considered a world capital and a melting pot of people from across the globe. Being the most populous city in the United States, it is not surprisingly considered the fashion, financial and gastronomic hub in the U.S. It is has often times been named THE world’s top destination.
With so many neighborhoods and so much to discover, New York City can be more than a little intimidating with the constant hustle and bustle. Seeing the city with a local’s help, however, can ease that tension. New Yorkers have unfairly gained a reputation as being rude or snobby, but in reality, if you find yourself lost in the concrete jungle, you’ll find that most people will be quick to help someone in need.
With four distinct seasons, New York is great to visit in autumn, spring and early summer. Late summer can be quite hot and many locals retreat to the beaches of Fire Island, the Hamptons and Asbury Park, New Jersey. The winter holidays are also an excellent time to visit, with the entire city dressing up to celebrate.
> WARNING. !!! Check with the local US Embassy or Consulate for information on your VISA Status, before planning your trip to any destination within the United States of America. FOR EUROPEAN PASSPORT HOLDERS and members of the VISA Waiver program, note that due from April 2009 you must submit the E.S.T.A. Form - Electronic System for Travel Authorization - at least with 72 hs prior the date of your scheduled departure. https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov
+CM New York is my second home, together with Buenos Aires (Argentina). Cosmopolitan, chic, challenging, irreverent and very Gay Friendly. There always is something new to learn, a new spot to see or something fun to do.... New York City has glamour, attitude and sex appeal. The Big Apple is hard to please and often difficult to keep up with. Kevin, our +CM Travel Expert, will show you the New York that not many tourists get to see, and more...

( NYCGO.COM/GAY ) LGBT history lives in the buildings, parks and cultural venues of New York City. During this 40th-anniversary year of the Stonewall Riots, explore NYC and connect with its proud heritage.
Forty years ago, New York City’s Greenwich Village served as the site of the Stonewall Riots, an uprising widely recognized as the birth of the modern gay rights movement. In the predawn hours of June 28, 1969, a handful of City police descended on the Stonewall Inn, a popular neighborhood gay bar. Such raids were commonplace during that era due to strong anti-gay bias, the enforcement of arcane local laws and the connection that some establishments had with organized crime. The bar’s patrons, perhaps emboldened by the civil rights movement, refused to disperse peacefully, holding a series of protests during the next few days. In the wake of the Riots, the gay pride movement took hold as groups of New Yorkers formed the Gay Liberation Front, launched the newspaper Gay and organized the Gay Activists Alliance. The first Pride March was held to mark the event’s one-year anniversary. >> Find out more
