This year, FEB 2009, our first MR GAY WORLD took place during one of the main Gay Ski Weeks in the world in Whistler, Vancouver, Canada. After a fun and exhausting week of competition Max Krzyzanowski ( Mr Gay Ireland ) was elected Mr Gay World 2009. But during the same week the members of our Board of Directors (where I represent the Americas and The Caribbean) chose the city of Oslo as the host city for the upcoming Mr. Gay World 2010 ( FEB 10 - 14th. 2010).

We are exited and proud to declare MGW as a true International Event that will tour around the world spreading the voice, the message and the pride of the International Gay Community as one.

I am proud and enthusiastic to represent MGW for the Americas and The Caribbean, for my second term. This year, for our first edition of MGW 2009 Whistler, we gather an amazing group of 8 candidates from all over America - Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico and United States of America. We were honored to received several nominations as Second Runner Up “ Alexis Cespedes “ Mr. Gay Paraguay and Mr. Photogenic “ Marcelo Benitez “ Mr Gay Argentina.

The scouting for MGW 2010 Oslo has began, and from September to December 2009 we will be looking for those 8 candidates from any destination in the Americas and The Caribbean eager to represent their native countries and local gay communities, and to compete to become the next international Ambassador of the Gay Community worldwide.

> Basic Rules
1. Delegates must be over 21 years of age.

2. Delegates must self identify as gay man.
3. Delegates must secure and are responsible for their own VISA requirements.

4. English is the official language. This is consider an asset but not mandatory.

5. Delegates will treat his body as his temple and will be active and outgoing. He will have impeccable grooming standards and has a thorough understanding of what attire is appropriate for each engagement he is to encounter.

> The Competition
The Mr. Gay World Competition is a 4-day, indoor/outdoor series of events to help our judges identify a strong spokesman or Ambassador to tell the world about our mission. The Competition includes athletic tests and extensive interviews with our panel of judges. Judging points are based on a diverse set of criteria including qualities in charisma, leadership, personality, appearance and communication.

The primary purpose of the Mr. Gay World (MGW) is to identify leaders who will take responsibility of being a spokesperson not only in his own community but on a global stage speaking out for equal and human rights. MGW is a positive role model and will work on humanizing being gay in the media both queer and mainstream.

The Mr. Gay World competition is based on an open and transparent cooperation between producers worldwide. Regional producers are responsible for selecting which delegates will represent their region as the best possible spokesperson for local culture, ideas and equal and human right challenges.
All the regional producers work in collaboration with the Executive Committee and sit on the Board of Directors of Mr. Gay World with specific portfolios of responsibility therefore ensuring a truly global reach.
