Apsara Dinning River Cruise  |  Bangkok, Thailand  |  Sail along the Chrao Praya River and dine like a Thai King, while enjoying some of the best night water views of the Grand Palace, Wat Arun Temple of the Dawn among many other landmarks of Bangkok. Apasara is a fine Thai dinning river cruise ran by the Banyan Tree Hotels Group. Sail on an old tradition converted rice barge. Shimmering temples, glistening skyscrapers and a rich stream of passing nocturnal traffic will greet you from every direction.

The tour takes in total, since you depart from the Banyan Tree Hotel in Sathorn till you return, 4 hours, although my suggestion to the operators of Apasara would be to avoid the extra hour at the River Side complex, where you boar the Apsara Cruise. The sail/dinner takes approximately 2 hours, which just go away before you realize.
Exquisite and abundant degustation of Thai Cuisine on a 4 steps fixed dinner menu. From mild to spicy, they will accommodate your choices subject to your requests, upon booking. I have to say that I could not control myself. You might as well consider this dinning cruise experience as some of the best Thai restaurants in Bangkok, with the big plus of the breathtaking views and relaxing ambiance. The cost of this dinner tour is TBH 2200 (approx. USD 70) excluding beverages.

There are many options available in terms of river cruises, but follow me on this…. saving some money will avoid you having to suffer a nightmare sail with hundred of other tourist, eating cheap buffet dinner and listening to live loud spanish and pop-style singers on board with a disco ball on the lower floor. That is what I saw while I was waiting to board Apsara by Banyan Tree. Apsara is a fine dining and sailing experience, accommodating only 64 guest maximum.

You will get to see along the Chrao Praya river, great water views of many of Bangkok attractions by night, when they are lit up and unreachable for the majority of the tourists. Photo above is the close up of Wat Arun or Temple of Dawn, while I was sipping my wine and trying their fantastic Thai cuisine. There is only two things about this tour that I would recommend modifying to make it the ultimate experience: (1). Avoid the one hour wait at the River Side complex, it is just unnecessary and not enjoyable. (2). The musicalization of the boat should be of a live Thai performer playing typical sounds or the region in a very soft and background tone, not a CD with international sounds from all over the world. As for the rest a brilliant experience that I would recommend to anyone looking to combine the best of Thai Cuisine and views of Bangkok. Carlos Melia Luxury Travel Curator – www.carlosmelia.com
