Gay Pride Week Antwerp Belgium  |  Antwerp, Belgium  | During my visit to Antwerp, Beligum, for the IGLTA’s Global Annual Convention (JUN 2010) I got to experience for the first time the Antwerp Gay Pride Week of the 100% Gay Friendly “Diverse” City, that celebrates and shares pride of being gay with all everyone regardless their sexual orientation.

Video above is from the closing party that took place at one of the most important squares of the breathtaking and beautiful city, right across the City Hall, with an amazing sunny summer weather, that motivated people from all Antwerp and Brussels to join the celebration. Singer Liliane Saint Pierre – iconic singer for the local gay community – performed live among other local artist, drag queens and the finalists of Mr Gay Netherlands.
During this weekend there were several events, private parties and the whole city was completely covered with gay flags, even the facades of public and governmental building. Some of the main events were:

White Party, which took place over the Schelde River. From 3PM till 12AM. Everyone mentioned their sadness about NAVIGAYTION not happening this year due to economic issues, but rumors around say that next year the Tourism Office with the official support will take over to guarantee the return of this important, unique and attractive event.IGLTA’s Consumers Trade Show that took place at open doors with live DJ’s and over 20 expositors among hotels, CVBs, Airlines and Tour Operators. (above Thomas Bomkes and myself before the beginning of the event)
Red and Blue Event sponsored by IGLTA. One of the best clubs in town, was overflowed with the best crow of Antwerp and many other destinations from all over Europe. (picture of myself at Red and Blue)
But the most relevant fact of this whole week, to me, was the official welcome given by both Philip Heylen – Vice Mayor Antwerp – and Annik Bogaert – Head of Antwerp Tourism & Convention to all the 250 participants of the IGLTA organization, present from all over the world. (picture taken during the welcome cocktail offered at the City Hall by the Vice Mayor Antwerp)
…”Antwerp is a city that belongs to everyone…” stressed Mr Heylen on his opening speech, and I must confess that this was the feeling that we all felt during our whole week in this incredible Flemish city.
