Japanese/French fusion at Lewin Terrace | Singapore | On our last night in Singapore, we were invited to try this brand new restaurant perched on the hills of Fort Canning Park. Lewin Terrace introduces to the Singapore gourmet scene a beautiful, innovative and creative marriage of Japanese and French Cuisines, by seasoned Chef de Cuisine Ryoichi Kano and award-winning General Manager and Chief Sommelier Daisuke Kawai. Lewin Terrace cultivates “Omotenashi” the spirit of Japanese hospitality, ensuring an exceptional dinning experience, at a tranquil and secluded atmosphere. French & Japanese techniques and a produce-driven approach. Housed in a gorgeous black and white bungalow that is the former residence of the Chief who headed the Central Fire Station on Hill Street. A romantic venue drawing couples for all sorts of occasions raging from dinner dates, anniversaries, to proposal dinners and couples looking to tie the knot conducting a memorable wedding.
Lewin Terrace opened its doors only a few weeks ago. Monday – Sundays both for lunch and dinner. Indoor seating for 66 guests, al fresco outdoors dinning/seating for 12 and a few private rooms. Dress code is smart casual. Bespoke cocktails, magic and mixology happen at the bar by Assistant Manager and Sommelier Atan Rasyadi.
Our dinning experience, began even weeks before arriving to Singapore. Upon booking our table, we were asked about food allergies and restrictions. Even about our preference on flowers for the decoration of the table and wines. A full customized gourmet experience. On the day of our dinner, no menus were presented. We enjoyed a 7 courses dinner, selected by the Chef including all our choices, paired with some French and Australian wines. Some of the signature dishes at Lewin Terrace include he Smoked Duck paired with Bettarazuke-wrapped Foie Gras Terrine, Charcoal-grilled Challandais Duck with Kyoyasai and Panfiried Japanese Amadai, Risotto of Amadai, Hijiki puree with Arima Sansho served Ochazuke style.
My only suggestions for the restaurant would be, to create a more romantic and intimate experience, true to its own concept. I would lower the lights, and have some Japanese/French music fusion in the background. Finding the restaurant was also a bit difficult, which I get is part of the experience, but maybe add a few more signs outside. Other than that we had a lovely evening, and a great way to close our two weeks trip to Asia, having our last dinner at Lewin Terrace. CM @ Carlos Melia Recommends
