La Citadelle XVIeme in St Tropez  |  St Tropez, France  |  The Citadelle of Saint Tropez, has crowned the town for the last 400 years. In 1602 the King engineer Raymond de Bonnefons, was in charge of the fortifications of the Provence, undertook the building of a huge tower of defence. This tower now called Donjon, characteristic from the 16th century, huge building visible from the distance with an inner patio. Their main purpose, play a dissuasive role.

Open daily. Cost EUR 5.50. Listed as a historical monument, has been in restauration since 1993 (long time right). Unfortunately during my visit the Donjon was close to the public, but I got to see the outsides and the surrounding areas. CM @ Carlos Melia Recommends
