Niçoise meets New York at La Petite Maison | Manhattan, New York | I don’t know what critics and people in general say about Niçoise Cuisine, but to me after my experience at La Petite Maison, can define it as fantastic mix between Italian and French Cuisine. Located steps away from 5th. Avenue and the Rockefeller Center in Manhattan.
By Chef Alain Allegretti, former Executive Chef at the Ritz-Carlton New York, arrived to New York city by the hand of Alain Ducasse as Co Executive Chef of now Le Cirque. For the past 21 years La Petite Maison has been the most beloved restaurant in Nice, France, tucked away between Place Massena and Old Nice. Celebrated Nice owner and creator Nicole Rubi has introduced a New York City location in the former Acquavit space with owner David Barokas who also owns La Guerite restaurant on Les Iles de Reims and several other properties in Cannes.
Portions are very generous and to be shared, imagine that we did not even make it to the main course. Our choice for the night were: Choice of 6 Saveurs minimum of 2 people with Signature Baby Artichoke Salad, Signature Zucchini Blossom Beignets, Stuffed Vegetables Niçoise Style, Creamy Burrata Tapenade Traditional Onion Tart (USD 25 pp) and one of the classics of La Petite Maison Truffled Creamy Eggs (USD 45 – photo above). Of course champagne and fantastic Bordeaux wine flew on and on all night.
There is been some gossip around town on their lack of service, I have to say that nothing further from real. Our waiter was very attentive, professional and friendly. My only concern with La Petite Maison is that it could get a bit noisy, but of course that happens when you have a surprise birthday party taking place a few tables away.
