Monsoon Wine and Vineyards of Hua Hin Hills | Hua Hin, Thailand | Today I spent my full morning and afternoon exploring the wine region of Hua Hin Hills in Hua Hin, Thailand. They people from Siam Winery, pick me up at my hotel and drove me for 25 minutes to their stunning vineyard, to spend a day tasting local Thai wines, great tasty modern tapas and bonding time with my friends the elephants. I mean, where else that in Thailand can you explore a vineyard on the back of an elephant ? Just priceless experience. And also, who would have thought that Thailand can compete internationally with other top wine regions in the world.
Chenin Blanc is without a doubt the signature grape to be married with Thai Food, uplifting flavors and going along with the spiciness. But after my outstanding wine tasting by Siam Winery in Hua Hin Hills Vineyard, which consisted on 5 different tapas matched with 5 different types of wines and breathtaking views of the vineyard, I must say that my absolute favorites were the Rose Wine, the Shiraz and the Cuvee Rouge. Specially and particularly the last one.
Monsoon Valley wine, and the region of Hua Hin Hills, together with Khao Yai, are the two main wine districts of Thailand. But Siam Winery has a strong differential advantage, which is to be part of the same group that owns Red Bull. Yes you read right, Red Bull is a Thai product. Giving them the channels of commercialization, logistics and international distribution that no other Asian wine can dream off. Having entered already in markets like Europe, United States, Australia among others, leading the way on Thai wines in the world.
Photo above is the main house, shop and restaurant. Unlike other vineyard in the world, you will not be able to see the process of the wine in situ, since their grapes are located in another location in between Bangkok and Hua Hin, and these premises are not open to the public. So here you will be able to taste and enjoy their wines primarily.
Overall experience…. FANTASTIC. Strongly recommend visiting for a nice lunch with fantastic wines. And if you love the elephants as much as I do, then have your time to bond with them surrounded by stunning views of the vineyard, and the mountains of Hua Hin Hills. You can even take this tour for a full day from/to Bangkok (2hours 30 minutes transfer each way).
