Pisac and the outdoor Market  |  Sacred Valley, Peru  |  Písac is a Peruvian village in the Sacred Valley on the Urubamba River. The village is well known for its market, which nowadays takes place every day, but most visited and crowded on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. A true Andean village market. Despite of its popularity the market retains much of its local charm, at least in the part where villagers from miles around gather to barter and sell their produce. Follow my Instagram Peru Photo Gallery for more tips, photos and videos.

Local produce, fruits, textiles, crafts all on display around the main square. But please take the time to walk around this ancient Inca city. Many historians suggest that Písac was established by the Inca Empire, to protect Cusco.
There are local buses departing from Cusco every 15 minutes for the one hour ride to Pisac village. Local buses cost about US$2 each way. I chose to do it with my private guide Abel, on our way back to Cusco, after spending two nights close to the town of Ollantaytambo.
The Sacred Valley of the Incas or Urubamba Valley is a valley in the Andes of Peru, close to the Inca capital of Cusco and below the ancient sacred city of Machu Picchu. The sceneries are stunning, and it holds some of the most important and sacred vestiges of the Inca Empire.
And BTW when you see the rainbow flag in Pisac or anywhere along the Sacred Valley or Cusco, which you will see everywhere, is the symbol of the Tawantin Suyu, or the Inca Empire, which center was Cusco (in quechua means the navel of the the world).
