Snorkeling in Koh Hong Island | Krabi, Thailand | This morning I spend almost three hours snorkeling at Koh Hong Island, which is supposed to be one of the ten most beautiful beaches in the world. As soon as we got there, the visibility was not very good, but as the day went by it got better and better. Just getting to the island is a whole experience, on local fisherman long tail boat, we left from the Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Phulay Bay and 30 minutes after and many stunning views, got there to be mesmerized by the beauty of this island in waters of the Andaman Sea.
Clear green water with perfect temperature, white powder sand all surrounded by the Than Bok Khorani National Park. Coral reef, lots of fish that, to be honest have no idea of their names, but all looked and felt amazing. Now I am paying the dues of spending the whole day under the sun, jumping in and out the water.
The only way to access to Koh Hong is by boat, thus there are only seldom people visiting this area, what makes it even more special. Since it is part of and protected by National Parks, there is a FEE of TBH 200 (approx. USD 7) per person to use the public services which include toilets and a small improvised restaurant. Around 12,30 our sailor gathered us and told us we were leaving, because he wanted to share something special with us. So we jumped into the long tail boat full of excitement and wondering what could be even more beautiful than this beach. He took us to the HONG. But this is for my next post. Stay tuned.
