Q&A / Travel beyond COVID-19
Q&A Travel beyond COVID-19. Insight shared from out travel partners around the globe. For follow up questions, kindly contact us directly.
When are you foreseeing your destination opening back for tourists ?
European travel is back already and as of early July, EU borders reopen to some 54 international countries including Canada, China, Australia and the UK but we are still impatiently waiting to hear what’s going on with international travel from the US.
Most Amsterdam Hotels have re-opened (and the remaining ones in July and August) as well as museums, restaurants and terraces (reservation in advance is mandatory). In the Netherlands the 1,5m distance rule remains in effect and masks need to be worn on public transportation only. As of July 1st, events up to 100 people will be allowed again.
What measures have you taken to reopen post COVID-19 ?
Please address sterilization measures, security, mandates on staff and guests testing, transportation etc.
Our drivers have taken the necessary security & health measures: After each ride all Mercedes luxury cars will be disinfected and are equipped with disinfectant gel, safety screens and mouth masks (on request).
As for walking tours etc. – all our experiences are on a very small scale, private and exclusive basis, therefore ‘Covid19-friendly’ and our mission is to take your clients away from the masses in the first place; instead we show your clients some hidden gems and introduce them to our hand-picked trusted local partners on a one-on-one basis.
How do you plan to enforce these measures and how will you ensure compliance?
We know all of our guides and local partners in the Netherlands and Belgium personally and have full trust that they will adhere to the measures! Whilst Sophie and myself don’t guide ourselves we will always check in with your clients during their stay, for example handing over a little welcome amenity – also on your behalf – and at the same time asking for their feedback so far which we will then share with you directly so you are fully in the loop! Consider us your extended team on site.
How will these measures affect the overall regular experience ?
It almost works in our favor as your clients will be able to enjoy also some more ‘open to the public’ sites (of course ‘the Fine Fleur way’…) whilst before this would have been far too crowded for our taste. An example would be the picturesque village of Giethoorn (1,5h by car from Amsterdam) – “the Venice of the Netherlands” in case you have heard of it, to be experienced by boat, with its 150 bridges, really charming. Giethoorn is a popular site and used to be very crowded but these days quite enjoyable actually! Also, we pre-book everything for your clients anyways (museums, restaurants) so there are no big changes to that.
Booking & Payment Flexibility Terms and Conditions during and after COVID-19 time.
We have flexible terms in the first place but are always here to work with you and not against you so no matter what we’ll find a way if need be. We will always communicate our terms in our communications and ensure that we are all on the same page.
Will you be offering any special promotions, packages and/or value adds?
We always offer special touches during your clients’ stay! It’s all about personalization and creativity here at Fine Fleur Amsterdam so wait and see for yourself.
How will you plan to maintain a level social distancing ?
As previously mentioned, social distancing is in place in the Netherlands but events up to 100 people will be allowed again as of July 1st as the country has been following the rules pretty well in the last few months with hardly any new cases.
Tell us about the current quarantine and restrictions within your destination ?
No quarantine. As for restrictions, 1,5m distance rule remains in effect, making reservations at museums and restaurants is mandatory and masks need to be worn on public transportation only.
Please add any additional information you believe would be helpful to raise travelers trust levels in order to visit ?
Looking around when navigating through Amsterdam, you can tell life is back but the city feels much emptier and more peaceful – which is actually a good thing as it could be very crowded in the past. People seem to stick to the rules; therefore, the Dutch government was able to loosen up the rules already – resulting in a happy and relaxed vibe in the city. Reliable medical care available if needed.
Now on a lighter and positive note,
Have you taken advantage of this quiet months, to curate new experiences or discover new locations/destinations? If YES Which ?
Absolutely! We have added Belgium to our portfolio just before Covid-19 hit, so did an extensive scouting trip, curating the best experiences and locations! And we have been coming up with new projects: A luxury picnic experience and a day out on a beautiful sailing yacht for the summer months. Furthermore, if your clients will be able to travel here before summer is fully over, they can visit the most beautiful Dahlia flower fields (and private farms to drink coffee with the owners!) in August and September when in full bloom. Last but not least, a new fun LGBTQ tour is in the making, stay tuned!
What is your favorite experience at your destination that you wish to share with my clients/readers?
What about a ‘sailing 3 course dinner’ on your private historical saloon boat, which happens to be the favorite of the current mayor of Amsterdam (and this is only one of the fun facts your skipper will tell!) – beautiful table set up and we pick up starter, main and dessert at three different restaurants along the charming canal scenery, before we take you back to your hotel by boat ?
