Hotel Esencia is located fifty minutes south of Cancún and thirty minutes north of Tulum by car. When are you foreseeing your destination opening back for tourists ?
We officially reopened on June 8th, 2020..

What measures have you taken to reopen post COVID-19 ?
Please address sterilization measures, security, mandates on staff and guests testing, transportation etc.
We have modified most of our procedures in every department to ensure our guest’s and our staff’s safety. All staff goes through daily screenings upon arrival and must, of course, use face masks or face shields at all times.

> All our guests will be asked to use hand sanitizer.
> Luggage will be sanitized
> Check-in is now digital!
> Guests will be suggested to change out of their traveling clothes. We offer complimentary first-day laundering/sanitation.

Public Areas
> Hotel Esencia’s layout already ensures maximum privacy, yet we have taken extra distancing measures.
> Antibacterial 70% alcohol-based gel is widely available throughout the property, including guest rooms.
> High traffic and touch points are sanitized on an hourly basis.
> Poolside and beach sunbeds are placed according to international safety distance guidelines.
> Guests at the beach may request side curtains within our individual beach palapas if desired.
> All hotel pools including in-room plunge pools are being maintained in accordance with current government health policy.
> We are temporarily suspending the placement of magazines or newspapers in rooms for maximum safety.

In our Rooms
> A 24 hr. minimum room occupancy gap is in place to allow for deep cleaning and ozone sanitization between stays.
> Guests may of course decline a room orientation on arrival and/or turn-down service in order to limit in-room personal contact.
> Rooms are cleaned and disinfected twice daily according to international protocols and using highly effective antibacterial products. This includes furniture, fixtures, and room accessories. Guests are free to request changes on housekeeping hours and frequency.
> Guests are provided with a complimentary kit of in-room sanitization essentials, such as antibacterial gel, wipes, and disposable face masks.
> All in-room information is paperless, viewable by scanning QR codes with guests’ own mobile devices. Disposable hard copies are of course available.

> Our restaurants and bars are all outdoors, well ventilated and spacious, nevertheless, tables have been arranged to ensure a safe distance between guests.
> Menus are paperless and available to be viewed on guests’ own mobile devices through scanning QR codes. Disposable paper menus are available upon request.
> Antibacterial gel and wipes are available on every table.
> Restaurant staff uses face shields and disposable gloves at all times.
> Restaurant and beach furniture is cleaned and disinfected between guests.
> Tableware undergoes careful cleaning and a double sanitization process.
> Our tables will no longer be pre-set prior to guest seating.
> Room service may be delivered on the outdoor terrace without personal contact with the waiter if requested.

Spa & Fitness Center
> Esencia Spa treatments are available in-room or in open-air designated areas for the time being and until further notice.
> Therapists wear protective equipment and it is changed between treatments.
> The spa menu is available digitally by scanning a QR code on the guest’s own device.
> The Gym is open normally for a maximum of two guests at a time, and it is under constant supervision and sanitization, especially between users – antibacterial gel and wipes are also always available.
> Private training sessions are available upon request and can take place in an open-air location in the property.
> Yoga classes are still complimentary but require previous day sign-up, and will accommodate 4 guests per class. All equipment provided is carefully cleaned and sanitized.

How do you plan to enforce there measures and how will you ensure compliance ?
We will reserve the right to refuse access to those who fail to comply with the sanitary measures. We have specific staff members designated to reinforcing these new procedures.

How will these measures affect the overall regular experience ?
We consider this an opportunity to customized our guests’ experience even MORE! Every experience will be tailor-made according to each guest’s preference.

Booking & Payment Flexibility Terms and Conditions during and after COVID-19 time.
Our cancellation policy has not been modified per se, although we are currently analyzing any modification requests individually. If there are any travel restrictions in place we offer date changes without penalty charges or applying the deposit as a credit for a future stay.
We are also offering special promotions with very flexible cancellation policies, including up to 24-hour notice. 

Will you be offering any special promotions, packages and/or value adds?
We currently offer a couple of promotions with different inclusions, such as flexible cancellation, spa credits, 3rd night free, to mention a few. All our promotions are available directly with you as our preferred partner. We will indeed continue to offer VIP amenities as we always offer your guests, the only amenities that were modified according to safety protocols are massage and minibar inclusions. Both amenities are available, yet they have been modified from their previous presentation.

How will you plan to maintain a level social distancing ?
As mentioned previously, our restaurants and bars are all outdoors, well ventilated and spacious, nevertheless, tables have been arranged to ensure a safe distance between guests.

Tell us about the current quarantine and restrictions within your destination ?
Quintana Roo has gone from level 4 to level 2, therefore there are no restrictions on travel.

Please add any additional information you believe would be helpful to raise travelers trust levels in order to visit ?
Most of the restaurants, boutiques, and hotels in Tulum are open now as well. All of the Archeological sites and cenote reopened as well.

Have you taken advantage of this quiet months, to curate new experiences or discover new locations/destinations? If YES Which ?
Of course! At Hotel Esencia we are always thinking of ways to improve. We renovated our Main House, we are also currently working on a couple of projects which we will be disclosed shortly.

What is your favorite feature about your property and destination that you wish to share with my clients/readers ?
I think it’s the art and design and old school elegance, immersed in a majestic garden of green on the most spectacular white beach.

My Riviera Maya Experience

Over the decade, I have been to Riviera Maya, at least once a year. Either to Tulum, Siam Kaan Natural Reserve, Riviera Maya and even the outskirts or Cancun.
