Iconic Lobby at The OKURA Tokyo
The OKURA Tokyo
The OKURA Tokyo. A Tokyo landmark since 1962, The Okura Tokyo in Toranomon is a triumphant fusion of 1960s modernist design with fine Japanese craftsmanship. Popular with royalty, U.S. presidents and even James Bond himself (the Sean Connery incarnation).
The historic hotel recently reopened last year 2019 September, following a $1 billion makeover with new buildings and a meticulously maintained vintage aesthetic. Original artworks line the walls of an exact replica of the old lobby — even the new carpet is identical to ensure none of the magic and glamour was lost.
New updates include an elegant rooftop bar and the only spa in Tokyo to offer treatments from luxe French skincare brand Annayake. Surrounded by gorgeous trees and greenery that are beautiful in any season, the luxury hotel feels worlds away from the bustle of the capital, though many of the city’s after-hours hot spots are just steps from your front door.
A hotel property which tells you that you are in the ambience of traditional Japanese hospitality in the middle of the urban jungle of Tokyo , a piece you will find in each and every inches inside the tranquil – landmark – lobby of The Okura Tokyo, come and explore the beauty !

My own Japan Experiences
Been to Japan many times. I have always been fascinated with Tokyo and beyond. During my last visit, in preparation for the Tokyo Olympics 2o20 ( now postponed to 2021 ), I was lucky enough to spend time in Tokyo, Mt Fuji and Kyoto, scouting and curating moments, experiences, hotels and restaurants for my private leisure clients and corporate groups.
Here you may read some posts. Also I would like to share my Instagram Posts. Some of my favorite experiences were: SUMO Morning Training Session in Tokyo, Private KOTO Class, Private Tea Ceremony with a ZEN Master, and following the steps of the Geishas in Kyoto, among many many others. Enjoy the journey.
